Last season, Barcelona completed arguably the best second-leg comeback the Champions League has ever seen.

After losing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie, the Spanish giants were up against it.

And it looked all over after Edinson Cavani’s strike just after the hour mark left Barca needing three goals.

And they still needed three goals as they entered the 88th-minute.

But, as you all know by now, Neymar grabbed two and Sergi Roberto scored in the 95th-minute to seal a miraculous comeback.

Fast forward one year and Barca were on the receiving end of an almost equally miraculous comeback.

They had thrashed Roma 4-1 in the first-leg at the Camp Nou but the Italian side incredibly triumphed 3-0 in Rome on Tuesday to send Ernesto Valverde’s side crashing out at the last-eight stage.

BARCA PLAYERS COULDN'T BELIEVE IT

Nobody could have predicted it and the Barca players looked shellshocked.

And that was the case on the fight home, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

Sport have produced a report of exactly what it was like on that trip home, dubbing it the ‘Ghost plane.’

“It’s been many years since I saw faces like that,” described one member of the flight.

While the majority of the two-hour journey was silent, there was one comment that was apparently repeated.

Sport claim “more than once, it was muttered that ‘we have delivered the Champions League to Real Madrid.'"

Of course, Madrid have one foot in the semi-final after beating Juventus 3-0 in their first-leg in Turin as they look to win it for a third consecutive season.

But what about Liverpool?

They’ve just beaten arguably the best side in Europe 5-1 on aggregate. However, it seems Barca players don’t rate their chances of winning it at all.

But you simply can’t rule out Liverpool from winning their sixth European Cup in Kiev come May, especially the form they’re showing right now.

Or what about Bayern Munich? The Germans beat Sevilla 2-1 in Spain last week and are also strong favourites to reach the last four.

Or even the side that had just knocked them out? They had just been demolished 3-0 by Roma but Barca didn’t hesitate to rule out their chances of winning the Champions League.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the fears of the Barca players come true but it seems they’re being a bit disrespectful to the likes of Liverpool and Bayern to count them out immediately.
