NXT TakeOver: New Orleans stole the show over WrestleMania weekend.

Of course, the 34th edition of the "Show of Shows" was always going to be the main event - as it's the biggest annual night in the WWE calendar.

But that didn't stop the stars of the future from impressing one night before WrestleMania - an event some of them could main event in a few years time.

The NXT card from last Saturday featured five matches. The show began with a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship.

That involved EC3, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain. Following that, Ember Moon defended the NXT Women's Championship against Shayna Baszler.

Cole was then in action again as The Undisputed Era defended the NXT Tag Team Championship against The Authors of Pain, Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne.

NXT Champion "Cien" Almas defended his belt against Aleister Black in the penultimate match before Johnny Gargano returned to face Tommaso Ciampa in an unsanctioned fight.

It's fair to say that April's TakeOver had one of the most stacked cards in NXT history. And they all lived up to expectations.

Gene Guillot, writing in a local New Orleans paper, The Times-Picayune described the show as "wrestling at its finest".

Guillot continued:

"The show kicked off with one of the best matches in NXT history and finished with another Match of the Year candidate that told one of the great stories in wrestling history."

And it wasn't just Guillot who couldn't believe what he was seeing. It's fair to say that Mauro Ranallo, who was on commentary at the event, had a pretty good time watching things unfold.

WWE today posted a video on YouTube of Ranallo's reactions throughout the night. Normally WWE fans don't get to see just how into it the commentator gets, so this video is a must watch.

Ranallo doesn't disappoint and the clips show him frequently jumping out of his seat in excitement, throwing his hands in the air and just screaming at the top of his voice. Brilliant.

The commentators don't normally get much airtime on WWE TV unless their promoting something - so seeing Ranallo's raw reactions to the action adds an interesting dynamic to the show.
