Juventus legends Giorgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon are still yet to achieve glory in the Champions League. The Italian giants were knocked out by Real Madrid on Tuesday night, losing 4-3 on aggregate after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a 97th minute penalty in the Santiago Bernabeu.Referee Michael Oliver awarded Zinedine Zidane's side a dramatic late penalty for a foul on Lucas Vazquez.Buffon, playing in his final ever Champions League game, was absolutely furious at the decision and was sent off for remonstrating with the British referee.Wojciech Szczesny came off the bench but failed to save Ronaldo's brilliant penalty."I don't understand why they are protesting," said Real Madrid all-time record goalscorer, as per Marca. "Lucas was tackled from behind and if they don't give him the penalty, it's a goal.""The pulse increased, but I calmed down, and I knew I'd be decisive."

What Chiellini did after Madrid were awarded the pen

The 33-year-old Italian defender, who was relegated from Serie A with Juventus in 2006 for match-fixing, caused a major stir on social media with his reaction to Oliver's decision to award the hosts a dramatic stoppage time penalty.

Chiellini clearly suggested the Real Madrid players had paid the referee - check out the footage below.

The wild accusations, made in the heat-of-the-moment, could land Chiellini in trouble with UEFA.

Plenty of fans on social media were keen to remind the veteran Juventus defender of his history of match-fixing.

Fans slam Chiellini

It was almost an incredible night for Juventus - but it all turned terribly sour as extra time loomed large in Madrid.

Juventus fans may have enjoyed Chiellini's behaviour but plenty of neutrals were definitely not impressed.

Their rivals Roma will be in the Champions League semi-finals after their astounding comeback win over Barcelona.

"The best came tonight but it could come again in a few weeks' time," said Edin Dzeko after scoring the opener in a 3-0 win in Rome.

"We can beat anyone playing the way we did tonight. We could have scored more too. We got at them right from the off, I've never seen Barcelona struggle like that before.

"It's hard to explain. People often talk about the mentality at Roma but if you don't have a strong mentality you can't win games like this one tonight."
