The Minnesota Timberwolves have clinched a spot in the NBA post-season after beating the Denver Nuggets 112-106 in overtime in a winner-takes-all game.

Both sides entered the game with a 46-35 record and were vying for the eighth – and final – playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Jamal Murray brought the Nuggets level at 101-101 with two minutes left to play in regulation, which forced the additional five minutes.

Jimmy Butler had seven points in the extra period and Will Barton missed a two-pointer with 24 seconds left as the Timberwolves took the win to seal the side’s first playoff game since 2003-04.

The Philadelphia 76ers completed a 16-game winning streak to end the regular season with a 130-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Markelle Fultz became the youngest NBA player to score a triple-double with 13 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.

LeBron James played in all 82 games for the first time in 15 years as the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the New York Knicks 110-98.

James also extended his record of scoring more than 10 points in 873 consecutive games before he was pulled after 11 minutes to rest for the post-season.

Arron Baynes had 26 points and 14 rebounds as the Boston Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 110-97, the Miami Heat defeated the Toronto Raptors 116-109 in overtime, while the Orlando Magic saw off the Washington Wizards 101-92.

Russell Westbrook clinched a season-long triple-double average and Paul George put up 40 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder overcame the Memphis Grizzlies 137-123, the Detroit Pistons downed the Chicago Bulls 119-87 and the New Orleans Pelicans came through against the San Antonio Spurs, 122-98.

The Sacramento Kings were victorious against a Houston Rockets side without James Harden and Eric Gordon 96-83, Josh Hart had 30 points, five rebounds and five assists as the LA Lakers beat the LA Clippers 115-100 and the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Utah Jazz 102-93.
