In what was a huge night for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team got the win they needed to secure their spot in this year's playoffs, and Karl-Anthony Towns was on fire throughout the game to guide his team to their desired end goal. The Timberwolves defeated the Nuggets 112-106 on Wednesday night with Jimmy Butler and Towns ruling the court on the night at the Target Center in Minneapolis for the now eighth-seeded Western Conference team.Butler finished the game with 31 points, five rebounds, five assists, and was 10-of-21 in shooting from the field, but Towns was arguably better as he finished with 26 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and was 12-of-19 in shooting from the field.KAT showed just how passionate the Timberwolves were about winning this game and advancing to the postseason with a powerful move during the second quarter of the game which resulted in a score. With possession of the ball just outside the arc, the center faked a 3-pointer, which Nikola Jokic fell for, resulting in space behind him being created for the Minnesota star to drive in to. Sure enough, he did exactly that.Towns drove into the Nuggets' paint and slammed the ball home in the basket for the score to complete the phenomenal move.

After the game, the Timberwolves expressed to ESPN how emotional he was with the team making the playoffs because of a promise he made to former Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders, who passed away in October 2015.

He said: "It's a lot of emotions. It's a lot of a promise I made to Flip, and I'm glad that I was able to be part of this team that was able to bring Minnesota back to the playoffs. This city deserves it. Minneapolis deserves it, the state deserves it. I'm glad we were able to bring it back."

The Timberwolves' first playoff game in 14 years will be a difficult one, as they'll be facing off against the team with the best record in the NBA season in the Houston Rockets.
