Despite all of the positives that came out of WrestleMania 34, it’s the questionable moments which has everyone talking. Most of it is surrounding Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar and the fact that The Beast left the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with the Universal Championship intact in what happened to be the main event of the evening.

The fact that it was going to go on last was certain and that’s something the WWE fans had to come to terms with. However, it was thought that The Big Dog was going to finally take the title off Lesnar which would allow the latter to move back over to the UFC.

SURPRISING RESULT

That didn’t happen, and now Lesnar has signed a new deal with his next defence being against Reigns - again - at the Greatest Royal Rumble event on April 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Here, Reigns is expected to win in front of a more receptive crowd compared to the US audiences.

The following night on the RAW after WrestleMania, Reigns delivered another ‘shoot-style’ promo and it’s now been revealed that something he mentioned in there was somewhat true.

When Reigns said things felt different when he arrived at the arena and that Vince McMahon didn’t smarten him up, it all revolved around the fact that Reigns walked into WrestleMania thinking the plan was for him to defeat Lesnar.

This is what Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said when speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, claiming Lesnar only signed his contract on the day of WrestleMania which why the plans changed.

PROMO

According to Ringside News, he said: “The decision was actually made, the agreement was made for Lesnar to stay right on the Monday they did that interview. So on the go-home show where he said if he loses [both Lesnar and Paul Heyman will never be seen again].

“So, they actually made the deal that day but the contract for him to stay wasn’t signed until Sunday, it was before the match.”

“It was very much tell nobody, Roman Reigns knew.

“The story that he told was somewhat true in the ring. He did show up that day to the building thinking he was winning the championship.

"He was then told that they had changed the plan and I don’t know that he was mad at least - he’ll probably be mad if [Braun] Strowman ends up with the belt but I don’t know if that’s happening.”

It must have been tough on Reigns who walked into the Superdome thinking he was going to reign supreme, only to be told that the plan had changed. Still, delivering that promo did give it a more raw feeling and continued to blur the lines between what is and isn’t real.
