Manchester United legend Gary Neville has earned a reputation as England's finest pundit since he retired from the game in 2011.The 43-year-old Mancunian has also tried his hand at management - but struggled badly during his four-month stint at Valencia.Neville spent his whole career at Old Trafford after coming through the famous Class of '92 alongside David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. He is now a pundit on Sky Sports but there is no question which team he supports - and he showed that on Thursday afternoon on Twitter.Manchester City have run away with the league title but were eliminated by Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals earlier this week. They were beaten 5-1 on aggregate.Despite that, The Mirror's John Cross suggested Pep Guardiola's side are the greatest Premier League team since Arsenal's 03/04 Invincibles.

Gary Neville responds perfectly

"Hi John," Neville tweeted. "United 2006-11 won multiple leagues, won CL and reached 2 finals and had @Cristiano (best player in the world in 08 @WayneRooney @rioferdy5 vidic, Scholes/Giggs/Tevez etc.

"The two teams you’ve suggested are nowhere near this team!!"

Neville sparked a debate with his claim that Man United 2006-11 were better than the current Man City side, as well as Arsenal's Invincibles.

The pundit did name one Premier League side better than that Sir Alex Ferguson team - Jose Mourinho's first Chelsea team in 04/05.

Man United fans react to Neville's tweet

Neville has been involved in a war of words with Mourinho in recent months - but his tweet on Thursday earned the love from the Man United supporters.

However, Arsenal and Man City fans may consider Neville, who played in that Man United 2006-11 side, a little biased.

Neville recent suggested Mourinho's harsh treatment of Luke Shaw was to distract away from Man United's underwhelming season.

"I've got a great belief in Luke Shaw and the reality is it would be a great shame if he leaves United without fulfilling his potential," said the former Man United full-back.

“I can't help feeling the whole Luke Shaw issue is a distraction from the critical aspect of the season. United spent a lot of money and the aspiration was to win the Premier League and go as far as they could in the Champions League and obviously neither have happened."
