Brock Lensar has singed a new deal with the WWE, meaning that his future with the UFC is a little bit hazy at the moment.
Lesnar has had a tremendous amount of success in both sports. He is known as The Beast in the professional wrestling world and is one of the most dominant forces that has ever stepped into the squared circle.
In the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) Lesnar is recognized as one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step inside the Octagon; having defeated legends such as Randy Couture, Shane Carwin, and Frank Mir en-route to a heavyweight title run.
Lesnar has spent the past several years with WWE, serving as the top champion for the majority of his run. He currently reigns as the Universal Champion on Monday Night RAW and is embroiled in a feud with Roman Reigns.
This past weekend Lesnar was expected to drop the title to Roman Reigns and pass on the torch, making Reigns the new top guy of WWE. It seems this was the plan for the past four years based on WWE's booking.
In a huge swerve, Lesnar hit six F5s that finally laid Reigns out. News broke the next day that Lesnar signed a new deal with WWE - although details are still unclear - and he will defend the Universal Title against Reigns in a Steel Cage match in Saudi Arabia at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.
There have also been rumors that Lesnar's new WWE deal allows him to fight in the UFC at least once. Fans continue to wonder why Lesnar is still teasing a fight in the UFC despite still being with WWE.
Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer commented on the subject recently, and said Brock likes to tease a UFC return because every time he does Vince ups his pay (quotes via Ringside News):
“[Brock] signed a new contract this is not an extension this is a new contract at a higher rate. I don’t know that it’s only one match, I don’t know if it’s more than one match.
"I think we’ll probably know after that match what it is. Right now as far as what happens after they may just go through the whole thing again and play both sides against each other and see what develops.
“I get the impression that I’m sure they want everyone to have is that he’s very willing and wanting to go UFC because every time he said that Vince ups the money. So we’ll see what happens.”
