Legendary Premier League midfielder Roy Keane delivered a brutal assessment of Jack Wilshere following Arsenal's 2-2 draw away at CSKA Moscow on Thursday night.

The Gunners won the first leg 4-1 but found themselves on the brink of elimination after going 2-0 down in Russia.

Struggling in central midfield, Wilshere was replaced by Calum Chambers in the 68th minute - before goals from Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey eventually salvaged the result.

"I felt in the two games they [CSKA Moscow] played well, especially tonight they made my heart beat much quicker than I expected it to be," said Arsene Wenger to reporters after the game.

"We played against a good team. I knew that after the first game and they showed that again tonight, they gave us many problems."

Set to miss out on the top four, Arsenal are desperate to win the competition in order to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Gunners will join Atletico Madrid, Marseille, and Red Bull Salzburg in the semi-final draw on Friday morning.

Roy Keane drops another truth bomb on Wilshere

Keane described Wilshere as 'the most over-rated player on the planet' earlier this season and he wasn't much kinder following his poor showing in Moscow.

"First of all, we keep hearing he [Wilshere] is not fit and you need to be fit if you are going to be a footballer," Keane said on ITV Sport.

"Every time I see him he is getting treatment or he is carrying a knock.

"Listen, maybe people think I have been harsh on him, but I have never been a big fan. For an attacking player, he doesn't get enough goals, he doesn't get enough assists.

"The guy's career is drifting. As bad as Arsenal were, he was really bad.

"Has he been offered a contract? If I was him I'd sign it quickly because if he thinks he is going to be getting big offers in the summer I'd be surprised.

"Again, the big question mark over him on top of what he lacks is he never seems to be fit. That is a big problem."

Brutal stuff from Keane - but he does have a point.

Wilshere's deal in north London runs out this summer but the fans are no longer desperate to see him commit his future to the club.
