Sam Allardyce has done it again.Liverpool and his Everton side drew 0-0 in a painfully dull Merseyside derby last weekend at Goodison Park. The Reds rested a number of key players ahead of Tuesday night's impressive Champions League 2-1 win away at Manchester City.Everton - who were knocked out the FA Cup by Liverpool in January - have endured a disappointing campaign, especially compared to their rivals. They lie 9th in the Premier League and it seems highly unlikely the Allardyce will still be in charge at the beginning of next season.Jurgen Klopp handed rare starts to Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings at Goodison Park, with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino making way.Ings has been plagued by injury in recent years and has failed to score a goal since 2015.

Allardyce happy to nullify Liverpool's "outstanding attack"

The Everton boss, who has not proved popular among Everton supporters since being appointed in November, was speaking to the press ahead of Saturday's trip to Swansea City.

It's important to note that Ings and Solanke are both yet to score a Premier League goal this season.

"We did a job on Liverpool by nullifying that outstanding attack even though they changed the team around," Allardyce said in his Friday press conference.

"They've only scored one goal in the league against us [this season] when they've got the outstanding goalscoring abilities that they've got."

Liverpool do have one of the most frightening attacks in European football - but Everton's defence didn't have to worry about them last weekend.

It was Ings and Solanke!

It's not the first time the former England manager has come out with some incredibly delusional comments.

"I personally don't think I could have done much more with the staff I've got in the period of time I've been working here with these players who were in an extremely difficult position before I arrived," said Allardyce ahead of the Merseyside derby.

"For instance West Bromwich Albion were above us when I arrived. Look where we are now and look where West Brom are."

The "outstanding" duo of Ings and Solanke are expected to drop to the bench when Liverpool host Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
