Carlisle defenders Richard Keogh and Tom Aldred are set to leave the club after they rejected new contract offers to stay at Brunton Park.

Keogh, 23, played 41 times for the Cumbrians last season but has declined a two-year deal while youth product Aldred, 19, who had a loan spell at Workington last season, has decided not to put pen to paper on a one-year option.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "We made a good offer to Richard and we wanted him to stay, but we felt that he had probably made his mind up the longer this went on. Tom has listened to advice from his representatives and we have to respect that. We felt that we had made a good offer to a young player who is progressing well, but he has had his advice and he now has to do what he feels best."
