After finishing 13 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, Rangers fans were hoping to see their players get one over their fierce rivals in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. The Old Firm duo were competing for a place in next month’s final, where Motherwell will be waiting following their 3-0 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday.Rangers boss Graeme Murty made one change to his starting line-up on Sunday afternoon, bringing in Andy Halliday in place of Kenny Miller. However, Murty’s side found themselves 2-0 down after 38 minutes after Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor both scored for the Bhoys.Minutes later and Murty reacted by withdrawing Halliday, who was less than impressed after being substituted off the pitch before the half-time interval, in favour of Josh Windass. While no footballer would be happy at being subbed off before half-time for tactical reasons, Halliday’s reaction had everybody talking. The 26-year-old was visibly fuming and was filmed, per The Scottish Sun, calling somebody on the Rangers bench - almost certainly Murty, but possibly another member of the Rangers coaching staff - a “f***ing bawbag”.

Rangers fans react to the incident

Rangers fans took to social media to express their opinions about the incident.

Some of them feel that Halliday was right to feel angry while others believe his reaction was disrespectful and disgraceful.

Although Halliday was understandably angry at being hooked before half-time, his reaction was over the top.

Murty had his reasons for making the change and the last thing he needed at that moment, with his team 2-0 down and heading out of the competition, was Halliday providing him with another problem.

Celtic fans couldn't stop laughing

Celtic fans, however, found the incident extremely amusing and couldn’t resist laughing on social media when it happened.

All in all, it was a brilliant day for Brendan Rodgers’ side and the club’s fans.

Two penalties in the second half from Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham wrapped up a convincing 4-0 victory.
