It’s difficult to find a more open and honest fighter in the UFC than current light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier.

Despite being on the verge on creating history ahead of his massive clash against heavyweight king Stipe Miocic, DC knows that he can still have big-money fights ahead of his 40th birthday - which marks his retirement from mixed martial arts.

HISTORY

Cormier blitzed through Volkan Oezdemir in the co-main event of UFC 220, on the same night where Miocic dominated the dangerous Francis Ngannou to cement his status as the baddest man on the planet.

Following that event, UFC president Dana White wasted little time in booking this super fight by making both fighters coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Now at 39 years old and heading into potentially the final year of his professional career, Cormier admits that he still wants to fight Jon Jones as the two have unfinished business with their bitter rivalry still something that needs a genuine ending.

Although a grudge fight against Bones is a big money-making night for DC, he’s admitted that only a clash with Brock Lesnar can make him more money than ever.

Lesnar isn’t just a random name that’s been thrown into the mix. There has been increased talk of the former UFC heavyweight champion returning to the Octagon to take on the winner between Miocic and Cormier.

Cormier has since admitted that he’s enthusiastic about the idea as he knows how much money can be made standing opposite Lesnar, or even fighting on the same card as him.

BROCK LESNAR

According to MMA Junkie, he said: “That thing never happens unless I get past Stipe, but just hearing it out loud was like, ‘Oh my goodness.’

“I know that when I fight Jon Jones, I make a lot of money. I know that if I was to ever fight a Brock Lesnar, I’m going to make even more money than I’ve made in my entire life. And ultimately, championships and money is why we do this. I don’t care for all the other stuff. I want to get paid. I’m almost 40.

“The door is about to close on me, so why not ride out into the sunset with a massive payday? Truckloads of money. Back up the Brinks truck to Gilroy, California, if you fight Brock Lesnar.

“He told me last time - when that thing broke that he was fighting at UFC 200, I said, ‘Big Brock, is it Christmas morning in the Cormier household?’ He goes, ‘Merry Christmas, DC. You’re welcome.’ That’s what he told me.

"He knows that the money is coming when he’s on your card, or you’re fighting against him, people are getting paid.”

This goes to show just how valued Lesnar is by the UFC, and why the WWE continues to work hard to keep him. Cormier’s dreams might fall flat, though, especially if Miocic gets his way by defeating Cormier and calls out Lesnar himself.
