Jurgen Klopp isn’t buying the idea that Roma are the best possible opponents for Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final.Roma aren’t viewed as such a formidable opponent when compared to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the other two clubs in the final four. This comes despite the Italian club knocking Lionel Messi and Barcelona out of the competition.Any suggestion that Liverpool have an easy route in the final was knocked down by Klopp after Friday’s draw.“If anybody thinks this is the easiest draw then I cannot help this person; they obviously didn’t see both games against Barcelona,” the Liverpool boss said.“In the first result, the 4-1, it was not like the game was – it was Messi genius against a good side of Roma.“The second leg was outstanding, it was outstanding what they did. They should have probably won four or five-nil – I was really impressed.”

Roma respond to Echo tweet

Liverpool fans and media are getting excited about a first possible European triumph since 2005 but the Liverpool Echo, a local newspaper, probably took it too far on Monday.

The Echo used a headline for a story that suggests Liverpool are already in the final.

“Why Real Madrid will be 'very scared' of Liverpool in the Champions League final,” read the headline.

Roma caught wind of it, and quickly issued a response. Check out their tweet below.

Bayern Munich then replied.

Liverpool fans have rushed to tell Roma to ignore the Echo.

It’s just one of those instances where you know the Echo will be reminded about their headline if Roma go on to beat Liverpool.

One man who believes that is possible is Liverpool hero Phil Thompson, who explained just why the Serie A club may be more challenging for Klopp’s team than Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

“I think they only know one way, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid,” Thompson told Sky Sports

“That is to attack and that plays (into Liverpool’s hands).

“Roma will present problems to Liverpool because they are Italian, they have a great idea of defending in numbers.

“I’m expecting a really tough tie.”

Even worse for Liverpool is that the Echo have just given Roma extra motivation in their quest to upset the odds.
