Another NXT star might be on his way up to the main roster.
Drew McIntyre has certainly made an impact on the WWE.
McIntyre has won several titles during his career not only in WWE but in other promotions. He is a former one-time WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion.
Outside of WWE, he wrestled for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (now Global Force Wrestling) where he is former one-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion and one-time Impact Grand Champion.
He has also wrestled extensively on the independent scene. He is a former one-time and longest-reigning WCPW World Champion with What Culture Pro Wrestling, a two-time ICW World Heavyweight Champion with Insane Championship Wrestling and a former Evolve Champion and Tag Team Champion with Evolve.
Following his first run with WWE ended with his release in 2014, McIntyre re-signed with the company in April 2017 and joined developmental brand NXT. If you recall, he appeared at NXT TakeOver: Orlando.
Later on, he won the NXT Championship in August at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III by defeating Bobby Roode. This marks the first time that a Superstar won the NXT Title in his TakeOver in-ring debut.
McIntyre was put on the sidelines as a result of an injury that he suffered. McIntyre lost the NXT Championship to Andrade Almas at NXT Takeover: WarGames back in November.
It was later revealed that was revealed that McIntyre suffered a torn bicep towards the end of the match and hasn’t been seen since.
He has recovered and is cleared to return to in-ring action. The WrestleVotes Twitter account, which has broke previous stories in the past, noted in a recent tweet that McIntyre is in Hartford, CT, which is the site of tonight’s (April 16th, 2018) episode of Monday Night Raw that will feature Night 1 of the Superstar Shake-Up.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if he will make his main roster debut on this show.
As noted, Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy will take on The Revival to determine who will face The Bar at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event for the vacant Raw Tag Team Titles on tonight’s show.
Also, Sasha Banks and Bayley in a singles match has been confirmed.
