WWE Hall of Famer and current Raw General Manager Kurt Angle battled with an injury at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment.

Angle made his first appearance at a professional wrestling event in 1996 with his in-ring debut following in 1998.

He signed a contract with the WWE that same year and participated in his first televised storyline in March 1999.

Angle was a six-time world champion (four reigns as WWF/WWE Champion, one as WCW Champion and one as WWE's World Heavyweight Champion), a one-time United States Champion, one-time Intercontinental Champion.

He’s also one-time European Champion, one-time Hardcore Champion and one-time WWE Tag Team Champion.

He left WWE in 2006 but returned earlier this year to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Ever since it was announced that Angle would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year, fans started speculating that he would wrestle again in the biggest sports entertainment company in the world.

However, instead of WWE booking him into a program right away, the company decided to go into a different direction with him as they fired fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley as the general manager of Monday Night Raw and replaced him with Angle.

Angle returned to in-ring competition under the WWE banner at last year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view event in November.

He teamed up with former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34 in a Mixed Tag Team Match at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Obviously, Angle and Rousey won the match. Angle stated in a recent interview with USA Today Sports that he suffered an injury while training for the match. Here is what he had to say:

"The only setback was, again, because of my overtraining, I pulled a muscle in my quad just like I did before Survivor Series. I was more concerned about that than the match itself. I didn't want to disappoint anyone. When I was training a couple of days prior, I couldn't push off of my one leg. And I was like 'oh God, not again.'

"Survivor Series was a big let-down for me because I couldn't really do much. At WrestleMania, I got through the match. I'm not going to say it was my best performance, but I got through the match and I did what I had to do to make sure the match was as good as it was. So I can't complain.

I'm going to start training smarter instead of overtraining and trying to get ready for the Olympics. That's just who I am. My intensity, I have to step back on it. I have to remember I'm 49 years old, I act like I'm 25."
