Sunday afternoon’s Scottish FA Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers highlighted the huge gulf in class that currently exists between the two rivals.

Celtic breezed through to the final thanks to a comprehensive 4-0 demolition of Graeme Murty’s side at Hampden Park.

Goals from Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor put the Bhoys 2-0 up at half-time before Rangers were reduced to 10 men when Ross McCrorie was shown a straight red card five minutes after the restart.

Brendan Rodgers’ men then added gloss to the scoreline with Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham both converting from the penalty spot.

Humiliating defeat for Rangers? Without any shadow of a doubt. Still, it was hardly an unexpected result.

Murty described his team’s performance as “passive” after the match but was unable to explain why.

"I asked them to get into a shape and a structure in order to go and press. But when it comes to one against one, you have to actually get up closer to your opponent than we did in the first period,” he was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Murty also revealed that there was a mixture of anger and frustration inside the Rangers dressing room after the final whistle.

“All the kinds of emotion you would expect from a changing room that has just gone through that,” he added.

However, it seems that two Rangers players stepped over the line inside the dressing room - and one of them now faces the sack.

Kenny Miller, the 38-year-old forward who was an unused substitute against Celtic, is expected to be told that his Rangers career is over for his reaction to the defeat.

What Miller did inside the dressing room

The Daily Record understand that Miller was “raging” with Murty’s handling of the game and “vented his fury” inside the dressing room afterwards.

Club captain Lee Wallace, meanwhile, is set to be suspended for his part in the post-match row, pending an internal investigation.

But Miller is expected to pay the ultimate price and the news has split Rangers fans on social media.

Given his age, it’s quite possible that Miller’s career as a professional footballer is now over.
