Paul Pogba's situation at Manchester United this season has almost been soap-opera worthy.

After beginning the campaign in sparkling form, the French midfielder has gone through a tumultuous period, losing form due to injury and being publicly criticised by Jose Mourinho.

The last few weeks have summed up Pogba's situation perfectly.

The 25-year-old turned in a woeful display in the first-half vs Manchester City, but turned it around by scoring two goals after the break to instigate a 3-2 comeback.

Then against West Brom on Sunday, he was bang average yet again, with Mourinho hauling him off before the hour mark.

On Tuesday, the Daily Mail revealed that his situation has deteriorated to the point where United will look to sell him in the summer.

So how has it come to this?

Well, it turns out a lot of the new speculation could have stemmed from that famous Manchester derby where Pogba was ironically named man-of-the-match.

The Sun report that Mourinho's actions at both half-time and full-time left Pogba 'bemused', further straining their almost broken relationship.

They write: "Paul Pogba's relationship with Jose Mourinho hit rock bottom after a fiery half-time bust-up in the Manchester derby.

"While nobody in the United side had come out of the first half with any credit it was Pogba who was the focus of the manager’s ire as the Red Devils trailed 2-0 at the break.

"His anger only increased as Pogba sat and muttered under his breath as the manager was taking him to task in front of the other players for his performance.

"Pogba responded with two goals in the second-half as United came back from to win 3-2.

"It prompted a delighted Mourinho to do a massive u-turn at full time in the dressing room.

"He told Pogba in front of all the players that he would have been his man of the match even without the two goals.

"Pogba was left bemused by the whole affair that has put further strain on the relationship between player and manager."

A clear sign that their relationship is not healthy for the club.

The paper also report that Real Madrid are ready to take advantage, with Los Blancos looking to make a marquee signing in the summer.
