It doesn’t matter if it was before WrestleMania 34 or after the event; Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract is still the talk of the town.
If rumours were to be believed at the time, then right now, Lesnar would have probably been unveiled by UFC president Dana White as the latest star to make his return to the Octagon. That had been speculated for months - it was thought that The Beast would drop the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns and end his second stint in the company.
NEW DEAL
Instead, he surprised the majority of fans by hitting six F5’s on The Big Dog inside of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome last Sunday to retain the title, before the company announced the following day that Lesnar had signed a new deal with the company.
At the time, several reports had been floating around as to what Lesnar’s lucrative contract looks like. Some have stated it’s another multi-year deal, others claim it’s only a short-term deal while it’s also been said that WWE isn’t revealing the length of his contract because they don’t want it to seem obvious when he’ll eventually drop the Universal Championship.
However, another rumour has surfaced regarding his contract, and it’s perhaps the most interesting one yet.
According to PW Stream, Lesnar’s deal is not a fixed contract. Instead, the WWE is going to pay him each time he appears on television, and he could probably be paid a lot more if he’s going to compete at a pay-per-view.
PAID PER APPEARANCE
They posted: “Per source: Lesnar’s deal is not a fixed contract. He’ll be paid per appearance, when WWE need him. The same deal has also been set in place by the UFC, which therefore keeps all three parties happy. #RAW.”
This indicates that WWE can simply pick and choose when they want Lesnar to appear, such as next week on Monday Night RAW ahead of the Greatest Royal Rumble event next Friday.
The deal does make financial sense for WWE, while it allows Lesnar to drop the title soon and work even more of a part-time deal and be used as a special attraction for major events like SummerSlam.
Plus, it means he's able to fight in the UFC with a much lighter schedule and no fixed deal in place.
If the deal is accurate, then it’s something WWE fans could embrace as it allows other deserving stars an opportunity to enter the Universal title picture with Lesnar potentially working an even lighter schedule.
