Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho's relationship has become strained at Manchester United - and the fans might be about to see him leave for a second time.

The talented French midfielder - signed for a club record £89m in 2016 - was hauled off in the 58th minute of Sunday's shock 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom.

Pogba was Man of the Match a week earlier, scoring a brace in a dramatic 3-2 Man United win over rivals Manchester City.

Various reports over the last 48 hours have suggested that Mourinho is planning to sell the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail claimed that the 55-year-old former Chelsea manager is planning to offload Pogba and Anthony Martial.

"I will tell you what I told [Pogba] after the [City] match and it's exactly what I told him - I don't expect you to be man of the match every week, I don't expect you to score two goals every week," said Mourinho after the Manchester derby

"I expect you to be consistent in a certain level."

What the Man Utd board have told Mourinho about Pogba

The former Juventus midfielder was famously part of the Man United academy before Sir Alex Ferguson got rid of him in 2012.

Pogba could find himself looking for a new club if he fails to impress in the last few games of the season.

According to The Telegraph, Mourinho has been given the full backing of the Man United board "to undertake a radical overhaul - even if that means selling Paul Pogba."

The Telegraph claim that the Portuguese coach felt let down by Pogba's performance against West Brom but is yet to make a decision on his future.

Pogba's destiny is in Mourinho's hands.

FA Cup semi-final upcoming

The Red Devils visit Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night before facing Spurs in an FA Cup semi-final on Saturday afternoon.

"If I play someone against Bournemouth and he is phenomenal, he plays the semi-final," Mourinho told reporters.

"The word is not rotation. This is an opportunity for some people to play and to try to get a place in the team. Some of the guys who played [against West Brom], they don't have a place in that team."

There is incredible competition for places at Old Trafford - Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Martial all started on the bench against West Brom.
