Who will Daniel Ricciardo be driving for this time next year?

That's the question everyone connected with Formula 1 seems to be asking after his recent victory in Shanghai.

The Australian himself has said that if Red Bull can keep him in a competitive car for the rest of the season, he will sign a new deal to stay with the manufacturers.

“If we can win a few more with Red Bull now then that looks very attractive. If not, then I guess there are probably other options,” Ricciardo said. “If we were finishing sixth every race this year then that is not the most attractive option to me.”

With rumours about potential switches to Mercedes and Ferrari continuing to circulate, however, it was the turn of 2016 champion Nico Rosberg to add his two pence.

The former Mercedes star put himself is Ricciardo's shoes and, perhaps surprisingly, thinks the Aussie should make the move to Ferrari.

He told Sky Sports: “Where would I drive if I was Daniel Ricciardo?”

"I would go to Ferrari because he knows he can beat Vettel, and they have the best car at the moment.”

These words from the former champion may seem to add fuel to the fire but they are most definitely food for thought for Red Bull and more importantly, Ricciardo.

Ferrari have started the new campaign showing some blistering speed and with Raikkonen’s contract also set to expire at the end of 2018, Christian Horner and co. need to prove over the remainder of the season why it is worth Ricciardo’s time staying put.

The difference in tactics from both Red Bull and Ferrari at the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend show Ricciardo's current constructors can still be competitive, combining this with an improved vehicle could be enough to prove Rosberg wrong and convince F1's hottest property to remain in blue for a little while longer.
