The decline of Anthony Martial under Jose Mourinho has been quite sad to see.

While the exciting Manchester United wide man has shown glimpses of quality, including a stunning goal scoring run at the start of 2018, he has never found consistency or love under Mourinho.

It was with Louis van Gaal that he made his name, with Martial enjoying his best spell at the club in his debut season, finishing as United's top goal scorer in 2015/16 with 17 in all competitions.

However, he is now caught in limbo; does he stay and fight under a manager that clearly doesn't trust him? Or does he bite the bullet and seek a new club to start again at a young age?

United fans will be desperate for the former, with Martial commanding a cult icon status among the Red Devils faithful.

Such is his popularity that questions were asked of Mourinho and Ed Woodward when they signed Alexis Sanchez in his position. Due to the Chilean's form, those questions still persist.

In the past few days, rumours have intensified regarding his potential exit and The Times' report early Wednesday morning gives perhaps the strongest indication that it may come to fruition.

Apparently, Martial was even considering leaving way back in January and was apparently frustrated that he wasn't able to speak with Arsenal to be included in the swap deal for Sanchez.

They write: "It is understood that Martial was disappointed at not having the chance to discuss a move to Arsenal in January, when the London club raised the possibility of including the forward in the swap deal that led to Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaving Old Trafford instead."

Given how far the Gunners are behind United, that is surely the indication of how unhappy he is.

And, the paper report that Martial is now eyeing up a move to Juventus in the summer, with the only potential stumbling block being whether the Italian giants can actually afford the French international.

There are also rumblings from elsewhere that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the former Monaco man.
