It's been a very mixed season for Rangers Football Club.

While the blue-half of Glasgow are currently sitting in second in the Scottish Premier League level on points with Aberdeen, their inability to get anywhere near their bitter city rivals Celtic has led to a lot of criticism.

The Bhoys are 13 points clear at the top of the table and Rangers were beaten convincingly by Brendan Rodgers' side in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The 4-0 defeat was a truly humbling experience, but it was what happened after the match that has attracted the majority of the headlines.

Rangers announced on Tuesday that both Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace had been suspended by the club for their actions towards Graeme Murty in the dressing room after the game.

It is thought that it will be the end of Miller's career, while Wallace faces a tough task to make it back into the fold.

Both players did not feature in the game, which is perhaps why the Ibrox board are so furious at the blatant disrespect shown towards Murty.

The Daily Record write: "The Ibrox board are livid at the lack of respect shown to Murty and his office. They are particularly incensed at the behaviour of club captain Wallace, one of the highest earners at the club.

"Murty declared the full-back fit to face Celtic on Friday afternoon but he did not even make the bench on Sunday afternoon.

"He has been unavailable through injury for much of this season and club chiefs are furious he vented such vitriol at Murty when he was at his lowest ebb.

"Miller and Wallace let loose with a savage verbal onslaught that slaughtered his pre-match planning and matchday preparation in front of stunned team-mates in the dressing room after the 4-0 defeat."

A source close to the club also said certain individuals had been a “disruptive influence” at Ibrox for far too long.

And added: “Events of Sunday will not be tolerated again. The club is bigger than any individual – and their agenda. It’s a line in the sand. No more.”

It seems something like this was inevitable.
