WWE decided to move some big names in the Superstar Shake-up this year, with SmackDown LIVE arguably getting the better end of the deal with the likes of The Bar, Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe jumping ship from Monday Night RAW.

Fans have breathed a sigh of relief as the WWE opted not to have some of the most coveted stars from the blue brand make the switch to RAW, such as AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and even Shinsuke Nakamura.

SUPERSTAR SHAKE-UP

However, one star who did end up switching brands on the first night was former United States Champion, Baron Corbin.

Last week, it was revealed that Vince McMahon was a big fan of The Lone Wolf and planned to give him a main event push.

When that was revealed, it did come as a slight surprise to see him switch brands as on paper, getting a main event push on SmackDown with a more competitive WWE Championship picture is a lot more plausible than the current Universal Championship situation which is being held up.

Despite that, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has claimed that the reason WWE put Corbin on Monday Night RAW is so that the company can actually push him as a main event star instead of fellow new arrival, Drew McIntyre.

MAIN EVENT PUSH

According to Bodyslam.net, Meltzer said: “Baron Corbin is there for a big push, at least that’s the theory.

“What’s the deal? It’s one thing I cannot figure out. [Drew McIntyre’s] younger than Corbin. Vince loves Baron Corbin - he did love McIntyre originally and then he soured on him years and years ago.

“But it’s like when you put McIntyre and Corbin together, it’s like one’s just boring but it seems like Corbin is the one they’re high on as a big main event singles guy.

“Corbin being moved over is to be a top guy and I didn’t sense putting McIntyre with [Dolph] Ziggler is gonna be a top guy spot.”

We’ve heard about WWE’s push for Corbin before, but on that occasion, they decided he would fail in his cash-in attempt to become the WWE Champion.

If he is on RAW to become a top guy, then the assumption will be that it will be much easier to slot him into the championship picture once Brock Lesnar is out of the equation and clears the path for others to finally compete for the Universal Championship.

Before then, though, it could be likely that Corbin finally gets some big-name feuds under his belt, rather than flying under the radar again.
