The PFA Team of the Year for 2017/18 was always going to be dominated by Manchester City.Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side have already romped to the title, with the Citizens on course to break a whole host of Premier League records. They've lost just twice, while also going on a 18-game winning streak during the season. So when the division's finest team was revealed on Wednesday, no one was surprised to see five City players.Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero all featured. The only other side to have more than one player was Tottenham, with Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane making the cut.Amazingly, second-placed Manchester United only had one nominee in David De Gea.

THE PFA TOTY

Aguero was the biggest talking point in the side, with the Argentine receiving his first nomination in seven seasons despite scoring 143 goals in 206 games.

Nevertheless, much of the discussion on Twitter looked at the fact that surely this was one season that Aguero did not deserve a place.

He may have scored 21 Premier League goals and recorded six assists, but the likes of Raheem Sterling (17 goals and eight assists) and Roberto Firmino (15 goals and seven assists) were more deserving.

Their numbers may not be as good, but the pair have been more decisive in the big games and have been more consistent.

FANS REACT

It's a valid point, but the only solace for football fans is this sort of makes up for years of bizarre neglect of Aguero by the PFA.

There were a few other City players who feel like they should have made the cut, most notably Fernandinho and Leroy Sane.

But, it's hard to squeeze so many of Guardiola's men into an 11-man side.

AGUERO'S INJURY

The Argentine will miss the rest of the domestic campaign after having minor knee surgery, but he is hopeful of making a return to partner Lionel Messi at the World Cup.

In the meantime, Gabriel Jesus will be looking to take advantage of his absence to increase his chances of starting next season.
