Belgian international Marouane Fellaini has just two months remaining on his current deal at Manchester United and looks set to leave as a free agent this summer.

Currently earning £120,000-a-week, Fellaini has reportedly turned down two offers to extend his contract at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old midfielder has struggled with injury problems this season and has not started a Premier League game since September 2017.

However, Fellaini was included in Jose Mourinho's squad for Wednesday night's Premier League clash away at Bournemouth.

He joined Man United from Everton for £27.5m in 2013 and was famously David Moyes' first signing after taking the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fellaini, who possesses immense physical power, has racked up 152 appearances for the Red Devils but has failed to start 20 Premier League games in each of his five campaigns.

Mourinho has urged him to stay - but time is running out.

The sad reason Fellaini wants to leave

Despite being offered a new contract, it looks like it's all coming to an end at Man United for the former Everton star.

According to the Daily Mail, Fellaini has told friends why he intends to leave Manchester when his contract expires in June.

The afro-haired midfielder reportedly "feels that he has never been accepted by both the United board or the club's supporters."

Fellaini has regularly been criticised - and even booed - by the Man United supporters during his five-year stay.

"Fellaini has had a lot of stick over the past two seasons at United and people have said he is not really a Manchester United player, and I think it is easy to say that," said Reds legend Gary Neville in 2016.

"He has a lack of quality in certain areas."

Fans and pundits alike have been critical of his robust style of football, blaming him for encouraging the team to play long-ball tactics.

It's easy to forget that the burly midfielder produced a number of match-winning performances in a Man United shirt.

The Daily Mail also state that the 30-year-old Belgian believes he has one final big pay-day before age catches up with him.

It's highly unlikely that any Premier League team will pay him more than what Man United are offering - so a move abroad seems likely.

"Sometimes I thought there was no chance [of the transfer happening] but in the end I was so happy to join United," said Fellaini upon joining back in 2013.

"I came here to win trophies.

"For me it's a dream to join the biggest club in the world."

Fellaini has won four trophies thus far: The FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League and a Community Shield.
