There has been quite the fall-out at Rangers since their 4-0 thrashing to bitter rivals Celtic in their Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Not only were Rangers humbled at Hampden Park, virtue of goals from Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham, but their performance was further blighted by off-the-pitch troubles during the game and in the aftermath.

Andy Halliday sparked a massive reaction on Twitter for his unprofessional behaviour upon being substituted just 38 minutes into the game, remarking: “f***ing bawbag” as he trudged to the bench.

Then, the Daily Record reported that Kenny Miller was 'raging' with how manager Graeme Murty handled the game and that he could even be sacked by the club as a result.

At the age of 38, the debacle could possibly end his career.

Sutton wades into Rangers debate

To add insult to injury, club captain Lee Wallace may face suspension for his role in the post-match fracas, depending on the results of an internal investigation.

All in all, it's a pretty messy situation and the last thing a caretaker boss such as Murty wants on his hands.

As the snow begins to settle on the drama, ex-Celtic striker and BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has now waded into the debate and he believes Murty should just call it a day.

Sutton thinks Murty should call it a day

According to the Daily Record, Sutton stated: “Would I have hung around if I was Murty? No. Why would he hang around?

“He has been undermined. There is no way back. Why on earth would he want to stay there and see players around who have let him down? If that was me, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near the place.

“This is a guy who went to Rangers as head development coach to try to further his coaching career, to build and gain experience.

“He is then launched in at the deep end. What has happened in the last week, you can see it is a toxic place.

“He has not been backed from the hierarchy. I didn’t understand the point of the statement from Dave King. Okay, it was about selling season tickets, but couldn’t it have waited until after the game?

“He was undermined before a crucial game – he (King) basically said he didn’t trust him to take it on next season. That was needless.

“And then for the players to turn with the whole suspension thing this week tells its own story. I do have sympathy for Murty. He was thrown in as caretaker and went along with it.”

You have got to feel sorry for Murty in amongst all the drama.

Only time will tell how much longer he will stick it out at Rangers and just how the futures of Miller and Wallace will pan out. What is for certain, however, is that all isn't well at Ibrox right now.
