Arsenal are being linked with a move for Russian full back Renat Yanbaev.

The Lokomotiv Moscow defender has previously attracted interest from a number of clubs across europe, and now Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has taken an interest in the 26-year-old.

Yanbaev joined Lokomotiv in 2007, although started his career at rivals CSKA Moscow. After several years in the youth and reserve sides, a loan move to Anzhi Makhachkala was followed by a permanent switch to Khimki in 2005.

A transfer to Kuban Krasnodar followed the following season, and a string of impressive performances led to his move to one of the Russian Premier League powerhouses.

International recognition has since been granted, with the left sided player making his debut for Russia in 2008.

Wenger is reportedly concerned over the future of Gael Clichy at the Emirates, with the 24-year-old linked to Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona among others.

The Daily Mail claims that the Gunners have sent scouts to watch Yanbayev, and have since made recommendations with regards to a possible summer signing.

Should Clichy leave the north London club, a move for Yanbaev seems like a realistic possibility.
