DeMarcus Cousins may not have played for the New Orleans Pelicans since suffering his season-ending Achilles injury in late January, but he's going above on beyond to show his support for the team during their first-round playoff series this week.

The Pelicans have built a 2-0 lead in their first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers to take back to the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans this evening, and a special visitor will be in attendance tonight to watch them play.

According to William Guillory of The Times-Picayune, Cousins will be at tonight's Game 3 contest between the Pelicans and the Trail Blazers and has taken extra measures to make sure it happens without extending his recovery from injury.

Guillory has stated that Cousins is traveling to New Orleans with his doctor/physical therapist so he won't miss a day of rehab, and it will be his first time back at the Smoothie King Center since suffering his season-ending injury on January 26.

The Pelicans are expecting a sellout crowd for tonight's game and with Cousins in the building, things could now be even louder for their first home playoff game since the 2014-15 postseason.

New Orleans guard Jrue Holiday told The Times-Picayune: "I'm excited. I feel like we all know the type of crowd in New Orleans and how they are. The last time we came back 0-2. Now that we're up 2-0, I feel like it's going to be crazy. It's going to be loud. We're going to have to communicate even better now it's going to be so loud in our arena."

Cousins can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but the fact he's attending tonight's game against the Trail Blazers shows he still has a lot of commitment to the team despite his unknown future in the NBA. If anything, it shows he might be more lenient towards re-signing with the team this offseason.

Cousins was having one of the best seasons of his career before the injury, averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 48 games, so there may be a big market for him this summer despite his setback. At the moment though, it looks like the Pelicans could very well be his likely destination before the start of next season.
