While he hasn’t been able to keep up with the goalscoring exploits of Mohamed Salah, Jamie Vardy is having a very successful season of his own.Vardy has notched 20 goals in all competitions, just four short of the tally he achieved during Leicester’s title-winning campaign back in 2015/16.His performances have surely guaranteed him a place in the England squad for the summer’s World Cup and has helped his Leicester side have a chance of finishing in the top-eight.What separates Vardy from many other strikers is his attitude. While he may not be technically the most gifted player in the world, his determination to make it at the top level has seen him rise from non-league to the Champions League in a matter of years. And that ‘will to win’ was evident against Southampton on Thursday night.Leicester were unable to beat the relegation-threatened side, drawing 0-0 at the King Power Stadium.

VARDY'S REACTION TO MISSING A CHANCE

But it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

In fact, it was Vardy that came closest to breaking the deadlock with what is now becoming his trademark finish.

We’ve seen the 31-year-old score a couple of special goals this season from a long ball coming over his shoulder - and he almost did the very same against the Saints.

However, this time Alex McCarthy was equal to it - much to Vardy’s frustration.

Now, we’ve seen Vardy punch himself in the face after missing but what he did vs Southampton was just plain weird.

Instead of just kicking the post, he decided to two-foot it in anger.

It was just bizarre.

It could have easily ended badly for Vardy but he landed on his feet and appeared to avoid any sort of injury.

It’s the kind of hunger Southgate will want to see from his England players at the World Cup - although he’d probably prefer if Vardy stopped taking his anger out on goalposts.
