It's been a matter of hours since Arsene Wenger revealed he was leaving Arsenal in the summer and speculation surrounding his successor has already begun. The Arsenal manager caught the footballing world off guard by breaking the news on Friday morning, bringing an end to a 22-year reign at the club. Tributes have rained in to thank Wenger for what he has done for Arsenal and English football in general across his tenure. And there have been no shortage of names linked with the high-profile position that is just weeks away from turning vacant.Established coaches such as Carlo Ancelotti, Leonardo Jardim and Massimiliano Allegri have been linked with the job as well as more left-field candidates such as Brendan Rodgers and Eddie Howe.

Former Arsenal players linked to the job

An interesting theme that has emerged from all the speculation, though, is the sheer amount of former Arsenal players being linked with the job.

While talk of Steve Bould and Tony Adams borders on ridiculous, it seems that Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta have very realistic and tangible claims to the post.

Then, of course, there is Thierry Henry.

Henry gave playful answer on Sky Sports

The Arsenal legend has been linked and quizzed about the job on numerous occasions across the past year and Wenger's announcement gave Sky Sports the perfect opportunity to probe him again.

Live on Sky Sports News, the question was put to Henry and the 40-year-old simply broke out in laughter before providing a playful and evasive answer to viewers.

Henry answered: "Look at me laughing! Listen, this is a funny one because I'm not going to answer that way again, I was trying to talk from the heart and it went a bit too far.

"There is one person you can ask that question, though, and that's Ivan Gazidis.

"That's the one who can answer your question. I'm here, today, to interview Pep Guardiola and Raheem Sterling - and I cannot help you with more than that."

Very interesting indeed.

There was absolutely no indication in Henry's answer and demeanour that he has no interest in the job at all, but neither did he cut a figure that will go all out to secure the position.

It appears that if Arsenal contact Henry, he would consider the offer but he won't go out of his way.

Hiring a man with no experience as a number one would certainly be risky, yet nobody knows Arsenal quite like the man himself.

Don't be surprised if Henry is in the mix.
