The ‘Arsene Wenger Out’ campaign has finally got their wish and now they can start paying tribute to the greatest manager the club have ever seen.

It’s easy to forget the impact the Frenchman had at the north London club.

He arrived in 1996 and completely changed the mindset of everyone at Highbury before their relocation to the Emirates.

From their diets to their training regimes and everything in between, Le Professeur turned the Gunners into one of the greatest sides in Europe.

It saw him lift three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies during his 22 years in charge.

And while his legacy may have been tarnished in recent years at the Emirates, tributes were pouring in left, right and centre after he announced he was leaving.

And it wasn’t only from Arsenal players past and present.

EVEN HIS RIVALS PAID TRIBUTE TO WENGER

Even his greatest rival Sir Alex Ferguson had some very nice words to say about Wenger.

And a member of Ferguson’s great Manchester United side has also joined in.

Rio Ferdinand won six league titles at Old Trafford, battling against Wenger’s Arsenal each season.

But the BT Sport presenter wrote a beautiful message for the departing Frenchman on his Instagram on Friday night.

Very classy from the former defender.

The manner of Wenger’s impending departure still appears a bit unclear, though.

While the club claim that there a mutual agreement for Wenger to leave at the end of the season, several reports suggest that he merely left before he was inevitably sacked in the summer.

Either way, Wenger gave an emotional press conference on Friday morning as he revealed the shock news.

“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season,” Wenger said in a statement.

“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.

“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special. I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club.

"My love and support forever.”
