Aldershot midfielder Scott Donnelly has signed for Championship side Swansea.

The Swans have agreed a three-year deal with the 22-year-old subject to a medical and will pay substantial compensation to the League Two side because he is under 24.

Donnelly, who turned down a new contract with the Shots told Swansea's official website: "I had a few offers on the table, but as soon as Swansea came calling I didn't have to think twice about it. Swansea are a top Championship club with a top manager. And, from what I've seen, they play some of the best football outside the Premier League."

The former England under-17 international scored 14 goals from midfield last season as the Shots finished sixth, losing their play-off semi-final against Rotherham.

Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon said: "I'm really pleased for Scotty. He goes with a pat on the back and the club he's going to is great."
