Mohamed Salah will play against his former club, Roma, in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Egyptian spent two seasons at the Italian outfit before joining Liverpool last summer for £34.1 million.

And after the draw was announced, Salah admitted that it would be 'emotional' facing his former club.

“It’ll be very emotional facing Roma for the first time,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I played there for two years, I was very happy and had a good rapport with the fans. I’m very pleased to go back there, as I loved the fans and they loved me.

“I hope to win, but I also want to wish Roma all the best.”

EDIN DZEKO REVEALS TEXT

Edin Dzeko thrived playing with Salah last season, with the Bosnian striker managing to score 39 times in all competitions.

Salah admitted last week that some of Roma's players had text him saying they did not want to play Liverpool in the semi-finals, and now Dzeko has revealed exactly what he messaged Salah after the draw was made.

"I just told him that we are going to see each other in the semi's," he explained. "I wish him to score and break the Premier League record, but in the semi's he can rest a little bit."

Quality from Dzeko. It's nice to see him wanting his former teammate to do well, but, understandably, he does not want him to replicate his Premier League success in their tie in the Champions League.

KOSTAS MANOLAS INSISTS THEY HAVE NO PLAN FOR SALAH

Salah is undoubtedly Liverpool's biggest attacking threat, but Roma defender Kostas Manolas has insisted that there is no game plan to man-mark Salah.

Manolas explains how they stopped Barcelona and Lionel Messi in the quarter-finals with teamwork, and that they will attempt to do exactly the same against Liverpool and Salah.

“We won’t man-mark Salah, because we stopped Barcelona and Leo Messi with teamwork, so we can stop Salah the same way," he told Italian newspaper La Stampa, per the Express.

"It won’t be easy, of course, but we are ready. Our belief this season comes from the philosophy of football that the coach gives us.

"Roma must never change their way of thinking, no matter the opponent.

“Di Francesco is a very European coach, he always asks us to dominate the game with pressing and intensity.

"It’s also true that we ought to have another six or seven points in Serie A, but when we play in the Champions League, it does bring something more out of us.”
