Dolph Ziggler was supposed to land a new and considerably increased contract with WWE a long time ago.

There were reports that he had come to terms, something which led to a bizarre situation whereby his own dad sent him a message of congratulations even though nothing was done.

The reality is that, according to PWInsider, Ziggler is still yet to finalise an agreement with the wrestling company and is on the verge of leaving this summer if nothing is settled.

We have had plenty of speculation in recent times about what type of contract Ziggler was about to sign and even rumours suggesting he would end up in Japan. At this stage Ziggler is not heading anywhere else but has yet to work out a new deal.

“In regard to questions about Dolph Ziggler signing a new contract with WWE, we have been told by numerous sources that as of this week, nothing has been signed and Ziggler's current deal is slated to expire this summer,” PWInsider wrote recently.

It’s an interesting situation and we will have to see how this plays out but we are edging closer and closer to the end of the superstar’s contract.

Whilst Ziggler ended 2017 as the US Champion things drastically changed as he vacated the title quickly, with the wrestler explaining that suffering concussion was one of the reasons some plans altered.

“I asked for some time off,” Ziggler told Chris Van Vliet this month. “I got kicked in the head by Jack Swagger and got a concussion when I was the champ and I was out for two weeks and that’s basically all the time off I’ve had. Even my stand up dates are booked around when I’m not working here. So if I’m never gone, no one can hope for me to come back.”

For now Ziggler is believed to be getting assigned a tag team partner in Drew McIntyre after a swift elimination from the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 earlier this month.
