Jurgen Klopp had an eye on Liverpool’s Champions League match against AS Roma on Tuesday when he named his starting line-up for Saturday’s trip to West Bromwich Albion.Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andrew Robertson were all named on the bench, with Klopp admitting that it helped to be able to rotate his players."We have the players available. Now we have Alberto [Moreno], we have Ragnar [Klavan], we have [Danny] Ingsy – and that helps us a lot," Klopp told Sky Sports before the match."That’s what we did during the season when we could – we changed the team from time to time, we rotated a little bit and brought in really fresh legs."OK, we had a normal week but at the beginning of the week one or two players had a few issues. So pretty early in the week it was clear I wanted to choose that line-up."It will have delighted Klopp to see Ings score in the fourth minute, his first goal in the Premier League in 930 days.Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool's lead with his 41st goal of the season before Jake Livermore pulled one back for the Baggies.

Klopp was ‘extremely unhappy'

Klopp’s main priority, aside from leaving The Hawthorns with three points, will have been ensuring his players left unscathed.

But there was something that left him ‘extremely unhappy’ when he returned to his dugout for the start of the second half.

According to reports, the Liverpool boss wasn’t happy that West Brom’s pitch wasn’t watered at half-time.

Given the sunny weather in West Midlands, it really made no sense not to water the turf.

Klopp will now look ahead to Tuesday’s match against Roma at Anfield.

Playing the first leg at home is very often seen as a disadvantage but Klopp has rubbished those suggestions.

“I think they will think it is an advantage, but it all depends on the first result,” he told Liverpool’s website.

“Of course, whatever happens, as long as you are in the race there is always a chance wherever it is, so I am fine with it. You cannot change it. It didn’t create reaction at all.

“First leg at home, I am really looking forward to it because it will be a special atmosphere. It’ll be great.”
