Dez Bryant suffers blow in bid to find next NFL destination post-Dallas Cowboys

It has been a tumultuous off-season for Dez Bryant after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys following eight seasons in Texas since being drafted in 2000.

Bryant earned three Pro Bowl nods for his stellar displays in the 2013, 2014 and 2016 campaigns but last season he was subdued to say the least.

Despite playing a full 16 games, the former star wideout caught just 69 balls for 838 receiving yards. In fact, the 29-year-old hasn’t gone over 1,000 yards since 2014 when he reached 1,320 and provided 16 touchdowns.

When it came down to it ahead of the new campaign, Dallas decided he was just not worth the $12.5 million he was due for the upcoming season.

But the release has the opportunity to give the elusive receiver a new lease of life if he finds the right franchise and it certainly seems like New York Giants is his preferred next destination.

Recent workout clips which have surfaced online show Bryant practicing hard with Giants’ star Odell Beckham Jr and following the release of Brandon Marshall, the NFC East side probably need a veteran wideout to compliment Beckham and rising star Sterling Shepard.

Bryant wants to be that man but it doesn’t seem the Giants are interested in playing ball at all right now, with NFL insider Ian Rapoport stating his belief that the franchise are not vying for the free agent’s services.

"As far as the Giants go," Rapoport said, "my understanding is they are not at this point a team vying for his services."

Baltimore Ravens are the only other NFL team who have been heavily linked with snapping up Bryant but things could change following next week’s NFL Draft when the receiver picture at different clubs will become clearer.

"It's a case of Bryant wanting to try and see if he can get the money he wants before the draft but he might wait until after the draft to see if a team gets desperate," Rapoport added.
