Never have there been so many jabs thrown before a fight has even been agreed as in the case of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

Wilder has been relentless in his bid to coax Joshua into what would be one of the biggest fights of the decade with a constant barrage of foul mouthed jibes targeted at boxing’s biggest star.

Joshua has been less vocal, but has on occasion fired back at the American, whose barrage of Tweets and snide comments may just prove to have the desired effect.

The two camps have entered into negotiations but, unfortunately, they have already hit a snag, with Eddie Hearn revealing that they will not overpay Wilder under any circumstance.

“Joshua has overpaid his opponents. He overpaid Charles Martin, he overpaid Dillian Whyte, he overpaid Breazeale, he overpaid Takam, he overpaid Parker. We ain’t doing it again. We’re not going to overpay Deontay Wilder for this fight,” said Hearn.

It really will be an almighty shame if the fight that the whole world wants to see fails to materialise because a price can’t be settled on.

Now, Wilder’s promoter, Lou DiBella has had his say on the situation - which is quite the understatement.

In a staggering, expletive-laden rant, Di Bella went all in on Eddie Hearn, and it seems he is somewhat unimpressed with how vocal Hearn has been with regards to the negotiations.

“Nothing is looming anywhere, cut the s***,” said Di Bella when asked about the possibility of a fight.

“I’m not wasting my time talking bulls**. When they are ready to make a deal – you’re not going to see it on Twitter.”

Di Bella then set his sights directly on Hearn.

“The motherf***** goes on Twitter with this Twitter war s***, that’s not because a fight is in the midst.

“When the fight is about to happen, you’re not going to know it. When people are really negotiating, you’re not going to hear about it.

“The motherf***** should pay attention to the fact he’s got a fight in Brooklyn next week and maybe work on selling some tickets.”

Crikey. Di Bella not the kind of guy you would bring home to your mother then.

The boxing world will be hoping that the two camps can put their differences aside and agree terms.

There is no questioning that should Joshua and Wilder get between the ropes together, it will be one of the biggest, and most brutal fights of recent time.

They certainly wouldn't have any trouble selling tickets.

Make it happen boys.
