Reading forward Noel Hunt is determined to make up for lost time this season as he battles to return from a serious knee injury.
Hunt has been out since last October but is back in pre-season training early and is confident of playing a part for Brian McDermott's side this season.
He said: "Even when I was on holiday I was going to the gym everyday and it was good to do that. I want to come back even fitter than I was before and it's all going well.
"When I got back from my holiday the other week the first thing I did was touch base with the club about when I could get training again with a football.
I was back in on Monday last week and have been doing lots of running. We then built it up to sharp turns and other exercises and everything is feeling good with my knee. I've been running since April and it's just a case of building my strength up slowly."
He added: "You basically have to teach your body how to run again and take everything step by step. It's one of those things where you have to keep your head straight too."
