Donovan Mitchell continued his impressive post-season form to help the Utah Jazz build a 3-1 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Mitchell poured in 33 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out four assists as the Jazz claimed a 113-96 victory in Salt Lake City.

The 21-year-old guard has now scored 110 points in his first four playoff games – the most by a rookie since Michael Jordan 33 years ago.

The Jazz has now won three on the trot since losing the opener and they can book their spot in the Conference semi-finals at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday.

The Houston Rockets also boast a 3-1 lead in their series against the Minnesota Timberwolves following a 119-100 victory in game four.

Much of the damage was done in a scintillating third period where the Rockets poured in an astonishing 50 points to go from 50-49 ahead to 100-69 in the space of 12 minutes.

That was the second-highest tally by any team in a quarter in playoff history, with the Los Angeles Lakers holding the record with 51 points against the Detroit Pistons back in 1962.

In-form Rockets guard James Harden led all scorers with 36 points – 22 of which came during that third-quarter blitz –  and he received good support from Chris Paul (25 points, six rebounds and six assists) and Clint Capela (14 points and 17 rebounds).

Karl-Anthony Towns recorded an impressive double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds for Minnesota but it was not enough to prevent the Timberwolves from slumping to defeat.
