Following his defeat to Anthony Joshua in Cardiff last month, heavyweight Joseph Parker wants to get back into the ring, and is eyeing up Dillian Whyte as his next opponent.

The New Zealander is keen to get back on track after losing to Joshua on points in the Welsh capital, which was the first defeat of his professional career.

Indeed, Whyte also lost out to Joshua back in 2015 - his only defeat to date.

Whyte was recently in the ring last month, when he defeated Lucas Browne in London.

There has been further fuel added to the fire with verbal spats between Parker and Whyte having occurred in the past.

And, promoter David Higgins has teased that a bout between the pair could be in the pipeline during a recent interview with World Boxing News.

"He has repeatedly called out Joe for a long time," promoter Higgins said of Whyte.

"Given he is waiting for another shot at AJ, which may take a long time to come, we are ready, willing, and available to fight him - we're saying put your money where your mouth is.

"We're not calling him out, we're just saying Joe is keen to fight him. Joe's reputation and profile in the UK have increased significantly following the Joshua fight and a fight between Joe and Whyte would easily sell out the O2 Arena, so it would make financial sense for Whyte to take this fight, too.

“The deal would have to be right for us, but we have no problem with Joe going back to the UK.

“There’s been ZERO contact from Eddie about the fight and surprise, surprise, all is quiet on the western front, but Joe versus Dillian Whyte would definitely be of interest on our side.”
