Based on the big swerve we saw at WrestleMania 34, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the same happen on Friday with Brock Lesnar potentially retaining the Universal Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

The assumption right now is that The Big Dog will finally slay The Beast on April 7 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in front of a more receptive crowd in what could act as Reigns’ overdue coronation - certainly from the WWE’s perspective anyway.

GREATEST ROYAL RUMBLE

The fact that Lesnar has one foot back inside the UFC’s Octagon - along with the mystery surrounding his contract details - suggests that the company could pull the plug on his latest stint at any given time, and Reigns is at the top of the list when it comes to potential stars that can defeat him.

If Reigns is to win on Friday, however, then Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer believes it could cause the company more problems than create new opportunities. It’s not all about the reaction he’ll face when he returns to the US, but it revolves around the fact that the company has no genuine top heels that can battle him.

This is why he’s claimed on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the best decision WWE can possibly make is to turn him heel.

HEEL TURN

According to Ringside News, he said: “I doubt they’re going to do this, but the thing to do is for him to win and have him turn heel and work with Strowman, even though that match has been done to death. At least you know you’ve got a popular babyface against your heel [champion].

“Or - they’re on different brands but put [Roman] with AJ or Daniel Bryan who’s also on the other brand. Those are the guys to put Roman against and Roman wants to work with those guys too. And they’re all much better off as babyfaces against Roman.

“What heels do you have? I mean you’ve got Joe and it’s good but it’s been done and that already because of the split going to be one-and-done [at Backlash].

“You look at the other else and what? Kevin Owens? They didn’t make Kevin Owens look great today. Who else do they have on the heel side that’s strong? I mean strong enough to work with Roman Reigns and really big. Who is there?”

He makes a valid point, there aren’t any top heels on the roster that can go up against him if and when he captures the championship.

Fans have been calling for a Reigns heel time for so long, and with rumours circulating before WrestleMania that Reigns could end up working with Paul Heyman, it might be the perfect time to switch the blueprint and go down a different route with Reigns.
