After back-to-back defeats on the road, the Boston Celtics secured a vital victory in game five against the Milwaukee Bucks in their first-round series to take a 3-2 lead.In a low-scoring affair, the C's came out on top with a 92-87 win at TD Garden and are now on the verge of setting up a second-round date with the Philadelphia 76ers.The win for the Celtics, however, came with some controversy as the Bucks were left frustrated by a refereeing error late in the game. The officials appeared to miss what was an obvious 24-second violation on Boston.Al Horford's three-point attempt with just 1:18 left came after the buzzer had sounded for a shot-clock violation with the home team up by five. But the refs failed to whistle for it and the Celtics came up with the rebound.Although Boston didn't score on the following possession, they were able to bring the clock down to 48 seconds with a five-point lead intact.

"I think it was bulls---, point blank," Eric Bledsoe said, per ESPN's Chris Forsberg.

Asked if he was given an explanation for the mistake, Bucks head coach Joe Prunty said: "Not a good enough one. I was asking for a shot clock violation.

"I didn't think he got the ball off, so I said, 'That's a shot clock violation.' That was my discussion. You'll have to ask them if they can review it. I just know what I said, it's a shot clock violation. Didn't get the ball off.

"For me, maybe I had a good view of it, I just didn't think he got it off, so I voiced my opinion on that."

Per Forsberg, referee Ken Mauer explained to a pool reporter that the potential shot-clock violation was not reviewable.

"The rule states that under two minutes we are not allowed to review a potential 24-second violation unless the ball goes in the basket," Mauer said, according to a pool report distributed by the league.

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, however, was not prepared to blame the loss on the missed call by the referees.

"The ball got to go in or it's got to be an airball shot for the referee to review the shot," he said.

"The ball did not [go] in, they got the offensive rebound so we couldn't review the play. That's the rules of the game and we just got to play through that."

This rollercoaster series will now switch back to Milwaukee as the Bucks will look to avoid elimination on their home floor on Thursday night.
