Brock Lesnar has long been teased with a return to the UFC for the first time since he fought against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in July 2016. Many thought his return would be announced after WWE's WrestleMania show, but now that date has come and passed, the situation is unclear.

It's still widely expected that Lesnar will fight for UFC once more, but there is no clear date as to when that process will begin. Before he even fights again, he will have to serve out the remaining months of his suspension for testing positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene before his Hunt fight.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his MMA future, there are already plenty of fighters that want to step inside the Octagon with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, including one former rival.

Although he is now signed to Bellator, Frank Mir wants to have a fight inside the Octagon against Lesnar, which would make it the third time in history these two have competed against each other. However, he has urged his fans to be patient in waiting for the fight to happen.

Mir said to MMA Weekly: “Absolutely [it can happen]. I would like to make sure it occurs. Just be patient. I mean who would have thought I would eventually be able to face Fedor.”

The reason why the former UFC Heavyweight Champion believes he should have a fight against Lesnar above anybody else is that he believes it's the fight which would make UFC the most amount of money since they have already fought against one another twice before.

He said: “Brock likes money and I don’t think there’s anybody he could get more pay-per-view buys on than facing me. I feel that fight will still work itself out because of what the financial ramifications are, it just makes sense.”

As previously mentioned, Mir has competed against Lesnar twice before, and they have one victory to their name each. Mir defeated Lesnar at UFC 81 in February 2008, while Lesnar defeated Mir at UFC 100 in July 2009.

Mir will be competing Fedor Emelianenko in the main event at Bellator 198 in Chicago this Saturday. Despite the fact he was released from the UFC after nearly 16 years with the promotion last July, you can't rule out a return in the future, especially when there is the possibility of a big money fight against Lesnar.
