Don King once said: "If respect is not given freely, it must be exacted."

Respect isn't something boxing promoters and their charges are known for - talk is often cheap. And if your meal ticket has an attitude (and show me a boxer who doesn't), a big mouth and a social media feed, respect is traded for dollars.

Deontay Wilder, the one remaining belt holder Anthony Joshua needs to beat to secure a clean-sweep 'unification of the division', has been taunting the British world champion with offers of a $50m purse, but Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn is highly skeptical.

Wilder's manager Shelly Finkel has confirmed that an offer has been made, offering a unification bout to take place between September and December of this year, with the American choosing the location.

Wilder's team has also stated that there must be a mandatory 'no-rematch' clause included, thereby preventing Joshua a chance to take back the belts should he lose the first tangle.

According to Wilder, Joshua has been offered $50m against 50% of revenues the fight could generate. That effectively guarantees the Brit a minimum £35m with the potential to top £71m if the fight draws the revenues expected.

The American team's offer is reportedly a counter-offer to the $12.5m deal proposed by Eddie Hearn earlier in April.

But, Hearn is taking the Wilder move with a pinch of salt, claiming that it amounts to nothing but a 'PR move'.

"It is more of a PR move than anything but an interesting development all the same. I actually received an email from Deontay Wilder, offering Anthony $50m for the fight and he has to agree to the fight."

Hearn is in New York to discern whether the offer is genuine, and if possible, to thrash out a deal. Joshua wants Wilder's belt without question, the trouble with the talkative American, is that he doesn't want to leave the comfort of home shores to fight in fortress UK.

However, while Joshua wants to wear the moniker "undisputed champion", Hearn says AJ is not standing still waiting for Wilder.

Recently Hearn told Sky Sports News: "Anthony has plenty of options but wants to be the undisputed champion of the world in just his 22nd fight, we're already talking to other potentials because you can't sit still and just presume we're going to reach an agreement with Wilder."

He went on to say that they're considering all options including potential match-ups against  Alexander Povetkin, Jarrell Miller, and Dillian Whyte.

But, how has AJ responded to Wilder's recent offer?

Well, on Wilder's Instagram video message, Joshua left a simple response.

"Let's Roll."
