Liverpool fans couldn't have asked for much more from their players after their exhilarating 5-2 victory over AS Roma on Tuesday night.

In the ideal world, Liverpool would be entering the second leg with a clean sheet on the aggregate scores but with five goals in the bank, few supporters are too worried. If the Reds are able to quell another sensational Roma comeback, they'll have a Champions League final on their hands.

And, frankly, every player in the squad can hold their head up high after the first-leg.

Of course, the obvious man to praise is Mohamed Salah and with good reason.

The Egyptian has thrust himself into early Ballon d'Or contention with two goals and two assists on Merseyside, while attacking teammates Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino also deserve great praise.

Henderson impressed vs AS Roma

One man who was far less talked about after the game, however, was Jordan Henderson.

The Liverpool captain can often divide opinion amongst Kopites and is sometimes lamented for passing deemed to be negative.

In recent weeks, though, Henderson has put in some seriously impressive performances and his showing against Roma was another one of those.

Liverpool fans love tweet about Henderson

Supporters across Twitter were praising the Englishman for his actions in the centre of midfield, breaking up Roma attacks and serving as a playmaker from deep.

And in light of his Champions League showing, football page 'BTL Comps' posted a tweet about the 27-year-old that went down an absolute treat.

The caption is certainly a bold statement but one brilliantly justified with Henderson's individual highlights from the game.

Take a look at the post below:

Liverpool fans were in complete agreement.

Henderson is no stranger to admirable performances in the famous red jersey, yet few have been as immaculate as this week's. Check out how fans reacted to the tweet:

It will do the world of good for the club captain going into the return leg in Rome.

Henderson is under no illusion that the tie is over, though, and believes Liverpool should approach the game as if they're underdogs.

He stated on Tuesday: “You look at their last game – they knocked Barcelona out and so have really laid down a marker for the Champions League.

“They are the team to beat so we have to go out there and do what we do which is give everything and do what the manager wants us to do. If we can do that it gives us a better chance of getting to the final.

“I still see us as going into this game as the underdog with them going and beating Barcelona, who were probably favourites before the last round.”

If Henderson performs like he did in the first leg, Liverpool will only go so far wrong.
