Goalkeeper Steve Phillips has finally put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Crewe.

The 32-year-old, who spent the majority of last season on loan at Gresty Road, had been expected to pen a deal with the Alex for some time having been released by Bristol Rovers back in May.

And after two successful operations on his shoulder and a summer holiday, Phillips has now concluded the matter and will officially join on July 1.

The stopper is expected to be ruled out until September as he completes his recovery but will then be vying to be Dario Gradi's number one, with the Crewe boss hopeful of tying up a loan deal for Chelsea keeper Rhys Taylor to fill the void at the start of the season.
