Liverpool may have thrashed Roma 5-2 in their Champions League semi-final but it was overshadowed by the shocking scenes witnessed before the match.

A section of Roma ultras attacked Liverpool fans with weapons, leaving one fan in a critical condition.

Sean Cox, 53, is currently being treated at Walton Neurological Centre where it’s believed he is being treated for a serious head injury.

Two Roma fans have been charged for their involvement in the shocking incident.

Everyone is praying Cox makes a full recovery.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Cox’s family to fly from Ireland to stay by his side, with donations reaching €40,000 at the time of writing.

And it seems Liverpool themselves want to Cox to stay in their thoughts.

WHAT LIVERPOOL WILL HAVE IN THEIR DRESSING ROOM

According to Kevin Kilbane, who was talking on the OffTheBall show, he revealed the classy thing the club are doing to pay tribute to Cox.

“I’ve actually had a message from someone connected with Liverpool this afternoon,” Kilbane revealed.

“They’re actually looking for a Dunboyne GAA shirt (Cox’s beloved side) to have it in the dressing room at the weekend.”

Later in the show, Kilbane confirmed that a jersey had been found and the former Everton player would pass it on.

That’s class.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also posted a touching Instagram message following Liverpool’s emphatic victory in the first-leg.

He wrote: “He came to watch a football match and support our team – the only result that matters to us now is that he recovers and can return home to be with his family and loved ones.

“You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

Liverpool face Stoke at Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League and it’s clear everyone at the club is wishing Cox all the very best.
