Arsenal have a mighty task on their hands next Thursday after drawing 1-1 with Atletico Madrid.

The first-leg of one of the biggest Europa League semi-final's ever got off to an eventful start at the Emirates.

Sime Vrsalijko was shown a red card after just nine minutes for two cynical challenges, with Diego Simeone also being sent to the stands after demanding a yellow card from a Hector Bellerin foul shortly after.

Atletico did their best to hold out in what was a brilliant atmosphere at the Emirates - for a change - but their stern resistance was finally broken early in the second half.

Jack Wilshere and Nacho Monreal combined brilliantly on the left, before Alexandre Lacazette rose high to head home from the former's cross.

As was expected, the Arsenal players celebrated wildly, probably even more so as they had finally knocked down the wall that is Jan Oblak.

But it seems one Arsenal player got a little bit carried away, with Gunners fans on Twitter picking up on what Granit Xhaka did.

Looking almost directly into the camera, the Swiss international casually drops a sweet F bomb.

And as expected, fans on Twitter picked up on the expletive and most of them kind of loved it.

FANS REACT

While a few suggested Xhaka was shouting the expletive at the Arsenal fans, it's clear from the footage that it was simply in front of them.

The Swiss international midfielder enjoyed another brilliant performance in the middle of park, creating from deep and showing a lot of defensive discipline against Atleti's counterattack.

Maybe Arsene Wenger's faith in him is paying off...
