The first round of the 2018 NFL Draft has come and gone and boy oh boy were we treated to a night of shocks, trades and even a few tears thrown in for good measure on a night where Heisman winners started and ended things.

The Cleveland Browns kicked off proceedings with the surprise selection of Baker Mayfield at first overall. The former Oklahoma man hadn't been in the #1 discussion much before today but the Browns will hope to have their franchise QB. They followed that up by ditching conventional wisdom again at #4, picking Denzel Ward over Bradley Chubb - who was gleefully snapped up by the Denver Broncos at 5.

Only one of the New York teams grabbed a new QB, with the Jets bagging Sam Darnold while the Giants put all their faith in the Eli basket by taking running back Saquon Barkley at #2.

The Colts finally wisened up and decided to protect Andrew Luck at #6 with the selection of Quenton Nelson, while the Bills decided to move up to #7 in the first trade of the night and took Josh Allen.

The Chicago Bears bought in former star Georgia LB Roquan Smith and the Niners got a pass protector for Jimmy Garoppolo in Mike McGlinchey. While the Cardinals were rubbing their hands in glee as they moved up from 15 to 10 and took Josh Rosen - who many think could be the best quarterback of the lot.

Outside of the Top 10, the Saints made the very brave decision to give up their first-round pick next year to the Packers in order to bag raw pass rusher Marcus Davenport at #14. The Cowboys took linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in front of their own fans and the Patriots spent their two picks on Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel - an O-lineman and running back respectively.

The Seahawks shocked everyone by picking Rashaad Penny at #27, despite him being projected as a third rounder and the Panthers picked the heir to Steve Smith at #24 in DJ Moore, the first WR off the board.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Ryan Shazier walked out to announce the Steelers pick. The linebacker, who many thought would never walk again, made his way to the podium to rapturous applause before announcing that his team had taken safety Terrell Edmunds, brother of Tremaine Edmunds who went to the Bills 12 picks earlier.

And the Ravens, fresh off drafting TE Hayden Hurst, moved up to pick 32 to take the successor to Joe Flacco - Lamar Jackson, the 2016 Heisman winning quarterback.
